This is a 16 USB-powered monitor designed by AOC. It comes with a reliable, ultra-thin LED LCD display which requires no any external power cord.
Check the features of the AOC LED LCD USB Powered Monitor below:
- It comes with a USB powered display which requires no external cords
- It is a 16” (15.8” viewable) display comes with a 200 cd/m2 brightness
- It is supported with the USB 2.0 technology
- It comes with a foldable Flexi-stand, which helps to have a portrait or landscape view in the auto-pivot mode
- The ultra-slim design makes it carry on-the-go monitor for the frequent travelers and business presentations
- It is compatible with all the Operating Systems except Windows 2000 or earlier Windows Oss
While resembling a tablet from the front, don’t be shocked to find that there’s a great deal more depth to this monitor compared to that of an iPad or Android tablet. Part of that depth consists of an embedded tab that pulls out for standing the monitor upright: the tab rotates for use either horizontally or vertically.
And sensibly there are rubber tabs attached which both indicate which way is up as well as provide protection from scratching the surface underneath it. But since there’s no protective case included, even though the screen is glass, it could get scratched if mistreated.
I would recommend getting a tablet carrying case for it as a safety precaution (you have one for your laptop anyway, right?).
The rest of the contents consist of a moderate length USB cable (one end being the mini-USB plug that fits into the very unobtrusive socket on the monitor’s back, behind the pull out tab), and a CD that installs the device driver into a PC.
Note: it’s always a good idea to check out the manufacturer’s website’s “Support” to see if there might be an updated driver to use rather than the one that has been burned on disc.
Since the Mac driver is only on the website, if you don’t go there, you might not think it works with an Apple computer (it does).
The glossy screen of AOC E1649FWU delivers bright colors and natural looking images. With a display of 15.6” and a 1366x768P resolution, it can read the smallest text in Google Docs. I found no trace of grayscale tinting anywhere during my test.
I watched some full-screen YouTube videos like the trailers of “Star Trek Beyond” and “Pete’s Dragon”, I found that it struggles a bit to reproduce the darkest and the lightest shade of gray.
In simple words, it performs like any typical screen of a laptop and is not the best choice if you are going to use it for only watching and learning from full-screen videos.
Having a second monitor provides more “real estate” when using a laptop, as well as allowing for a better segregation of applications in use.
It has a beautiful color and small text reproduction feature but has a glossy screen which has a prone fingerprint chassis. It is a neat little screen which is not a bad option for a dual-display setup, especially if you are a mobile office employee.
The lightweight nature and lack of power brick that is the standard of the AOC USB monitor, and this new breed of portable monitors in general, makes it well suited for traveling with you whether across the globe or in a coffee shop or bedroom.
Its auto-rotate feature makes you free from using graphics control panel to switch its portrait and landscape modes. However, the grayscale and viewing angle performances have the scope of improvements.
The ASUS VS248H P may not be a top-of-the-line model when it comes to gaming monitors, but it is just as powerful as any user can wish. This product is highly recommended for gamers because of its superior display, boasting a 1080p HD panel and next-generation technologies.
Check the features of the ASUS VS248H P Monitor below:
- 50,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio and 2ms Response Time.
- Made from the finest, high-grade materials, products such as the ASUS VS248H P can have harmful effects to the environment.
- Aspect Control Function
- Stylish and User-Friendly Design for Modern Sophistication
- It’is incorporated with DVI-D, HDMI, and VGA connectivity ports.
- Complete After-Sale Service and Rapid Replacement
Aside from having a full HD 1080p support, this ASUS monitor also boasts with a 50,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast ratio.
This improves contrast tremendously, enabling the ASUS VS248H P to attain the brightest white and darkest black possible.
As a result, users can enjoy lifelike images right in front of them. It has a sleek and shiny finish and looks absolutely great from the this frame to the actual high definition display.
Featured a Splendid Video Intelligence technology, which can massively enhance video performance by thoroughly improving properties such as brightness, color, contrast, and sharpness.
The inputs include HDMI, DVI and VGA so you won’t be restricted on what you can plug it into and also won’t have to worry about having to use those pesky converter cables.
The ASUS VS248H P is equipped with the latest Smart View technology, which makes viewing while lying down more convenient.
The color parameters are adjusted accordingly so the difference between straight viewing and tilted viewing ceases to exist.
For your average gamer 1080p is going to be absolutely perfect to play PC games on. Another thing you want is a fast response which this monitor also has at 2ms. The last thing you want is a slow monitor while playing fast paced competitive games.
This monitor is clearly intended for gamers. A TN panel with a 2ms pixel response time means you’ll almost never see that motion blurring you can get during fast-moving games/movies on monitors with higher response times.
So, the VS248H-P does deserve top marks for its superb response time. Basically this monitor is perfect for all gaming and will look absolutely stunning for the price point. If your into Fallout, The Witcher, League of Legends, WOW or WHATEVER you are going to be happy with this monitor.
It has just a slight downfall in the first-person shooter genre however. With a slim-flat packaging, the ASUS VS248H P can maximize cargo space as well.
This is an efficient transportation cost-cutting procedure.
While I do not think you should buy this monitor if you are looking for very top of the line equipment I do think the average gamer/user would be very happy with it. For the sub-$150 category it is right up there with the competitors.
Another idea would be to pair it with a PS4 or Xbox One for beautiful console gaming.
It is affordable enough and would fit awesome for playing video games in a bedroom, dorm room or any other small space.
The ASUS VS248H-P truly is one of the most popular monitors out there in this price range. Its great specs and affordable price make it a fantastic choice for any gamer looking to upgrade his or her rig with a stylish, quality all-around TN panel gaming monitor.
Released in September 2015, this monitor with LED backlight became an instant hit. The R240Hy is a part of the Acer R series and has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).
The Acer R240HY is a great monitor for console gaming as well, so if you have a Playstation 4 or XBOX One, then you should also consider getting this monitor.
It might not be the best monitor for console gaming, but it is certainly the best 1080p gaming monitor for its price and also the be
Check the features of the Acer R240HY Monitor below:st IPS monitor.
- With a 23.8-inch wide viewing size and a beautiful IPS panel that produces accurate colors and offers great viewing angles.
- The monitor itself is stylish as well with a ZeroFrame design, which means that it has a narrow bezel.
- 3 different input ports makes this a dream for compatibility.
- Lightweight(only 6 lbs), No backlight bleeding, No assembly.
- Packaged very well, Includes VGA cable.
The monitor features a default refresh rate of 60hz, which is fairly standard. I was very pleased to see that you can actually overclock this model to a max refresh rate of 75hz, which is a big deal to you hardcore gamers and movie-watchers.
If you are a gamer, you might want your perfect monitor to have a refresh rate of 120Hz. But this is not a gaming monitor, and 60Hz works fine in this case.
Movements are smooth as you would expect. This refresh rate doesn’t mean that you can’t play games on this monitor;
you still can, but not at a competitive level. You can expect a 4ms gray-to-gray pixel response time, which is actually quite good for an IPS panel at this price point.
Yes, monitors with 1 or 2ms are better at this, but you can get a better response time in this price range.
You’ll find the tested input lag measurement slightly higher – 9.6ms – which, again, is better than you can hope for at this price point.
The monitor can get pretty bright in the daytime. It has a maximum brightness of 250Nits, and it can also get dim for a better viewing experience in darker situations.
There is also good contrast in the pictures that leads to a true to life color representation.
It gives you an awesomely vivid picture – it’s what you would expect from an IPS panel, but really overdelivers when you consider how affordable the unit is.
The blacks are deep and true, and the whites are bright. The IPS Panel allows for multiple viewing angles and has really crisp colours at any time of the day.
The stand, however, is aluminium, which is sturdy and doesn’t make the monitor feel like it is going to fall over.
The Acer R240HY has tilt functionality, but that is as far as it goes. It would have been nice to see a swivel or telescopic option added.
Although we will point out again that this is a sub-$200 monitor. Both Overwatch and Battlefield looked crisp and clear on this monitor, and I honestly didn’t notice any motion blurring at all.
I’m sure a more discerning gamer will pick out a few instances here and there, but you’ll only notice it if you look for it instead of focusing on the game.
Aside from the limited movement and the plastic feel of the surround, it is important to point out that this monitor is really attractive.
With Acer’s new Zero Frame design, you have a near borderless screen that looks amazing and even better when running multiple displays. It certainly doesn’t look like a budget display when it’s in operation.
All in all, with multiple input support, great features and performance it is worth calling this the best budget IPS monitor.
If you are playing the occasional game and still want to be able to watch movies and work, this is a great choice.
If you are a professional gamer you would want to look at something that has a higher refresh rate with a lower lag input time and a quicker response time. When looking for a new monitor for your PC or notebook, price always plays a big role. We also want to have a display that looks great and has decent functionality.
Looking at our Acer R240HY review, you can see that it falls well into the budget class, but still manages to boast the best overall 1080p IPS display in this price band.
The Asus ROG Swift PG258Q is a 24.5-inch 1920 x 1080 TN LCD monitor.
Now you may be thinking this collection of specs isn’t hugely impressive – and by itself it certainly isn’t – but there’s one key feature to this monitor that is very attractive for fans of high-paced esports titles.
The PG258Q sports a whopping 240 Hz refresh rate, combined with G-Sync, for the ultimate low latency, high refresh experience.
Check the features of the ASUS PG258Q Monitor below:
- The PG258Q has a two port USB 3.0 hub, and a 3.5mm audio jack to connect headphones when using HDMI/DP audio.
- It supports an amazing native 240Hz refresh rate (true, not inserting double frames or black frames like the EIZO Foris FG2421, which is being marketed as a 240Hz monitor).
- The display will also include a G-SYNC module and therefore supports NVIDIA G-SYNC technology.
- The ports on this monitor are hidden behind a large removable panel on the rear.
- The panel will be based on the old TN panel technology and will feature 1ms response time for minimal ghosting effects and a low input lag as well.
Most PC gamers are happy with hitting 60 frames per second (or FPS) in games. In recent years,
however, the arrival of high-refresh-rate monitors has ushered in a new era of super-slick PC gaming where gaming at refresh rates of 120Hz, 144Hz or, in the case of Asus ROG Swift PG258Q, a whopping 240Hz, is easily achievable. has an incredibly-fast 240Hz native refresh rate without overclocking, and is twice as fast as conventional 120Hz monitors.
This results in amazingly-fluid gaming visuals with no frustrating lag or motion blur, giving gamers the upper hand in first-person shooters, racing, real-time strategy and sports titles.
In addition to the enhanced refresh rate this Republic of Gamers monitor also features an ultra-fast 1 ms response time and support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology, which syncs the monitors refresh rate to the graphics card refresh rate essentially eliminating all ghosting and blur within the game.
The TN (Twisted Nematic) panel also features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, and support for up to 16.7 million colors.
This Full HD 1080p (1920×1080) monitor with an above average brightness rating of 400 nits also features a bit of ergonomic adjustments—users can adjust the height from 0 to around 120mm, pivot from 0 to 90 degrees, swivel from +50 to -50 degrees, and tilt from +20 to -5 degrees.
The PG258Q features many gamer elements.
The stand is a wide, three-pronged design with interesting copper vent highlights, while the rear of the monitor features aggressive shapes and a ‘tech’ pattern.
It supports height, tilt and pivot adjustments, allowing you to position the monitor exactly how you want without moving the stand.
G-SYNC synchronizes the monitors refresh rate to the GeForce GTX graphics card in your PC or laptop to eliminate screen tearing and to minimize display stutter. There’s also the Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) technology to make objects in motion look sharper, so gameplay is more fluid and responsive.
Setup and configuration of the ASUS ROG PG258Q is simple as it comes equipped with both DisplayPort and HDMI inputs as well as USB 3.0 connectivity and a built-in headphone jack, which is required if you want to use G-Sync or hit 240 Hz, and HDMI as the main connectors.
The stand even features smart cable management to hide annoying cables right within the back of the monitor.
Once configured this high-performance gaming monitor comes equipped with eye care technologies including Ultra-Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free support to ensure your eyes remain fresh during marathon gaming sessions.
The stand can also be pivoted, tilted, and the height can be adjusted to ensure maximum viewing comfort.
There is a decent range of on-screen features included with the PG258Q, including an FPS counter, crosshairs, and color-related settings like the Blue Light Filter and dynamic contrast.
Thanks to a directional toggle on the rear of the display, the OSD is easy to navigate, and I wish all monitor manufacturers would integrate a similar control scheme.
In terms of design, the Asus PG258Q has a Mayern-inspired pattern design on the rear that’s typical of Asus’ ROG-branded products of late.
There’s a joystick along the left-hand rear of the monitor that can be used for cycling through menus.
The PG258Q has the usual tilt, pivot and height adjustability options that you would expect on a premium panel, and Asus has once again bolted an LED projector into the base which adds a heavy dose of gamer cool.
You might find that ‘feature’ completely unnecessary, and if so then the Asus ROG-branded monitors on the market probably aren’t for you.
High refresh rates are the latest buzz in the monitor world and the Asus VG248QE is a solidly built, entry-level model that runs at 144Hz and is a good introduction to the world beyond 60Hz.
The Asus VG248QE is a 24-inch widescreen LED gaming monitor with a black chassis and a sturdy round base with handy cord-keeper attached.
Considering all factors, this is one of the best gaming monitors in the market. The ASUS VG248QE comes with several gameplay-friendly features for the competitive gamer.
Smooth gameplay is achieved through the fast refresh rate and the correspondingly low response time and input lag time.
Check the features of the ASUS VG248QE Monitor below:
- Ultra smooth action with 144Hz rapid refresh rate and 1ms (GTG) response time.
- With an 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR) and 350cd/m簡 of brightness, the ASUS VG248QE delivers life-like visuals in Full HD 1920 x 1080.
- A comfortable viewing with ergonomic design for swivel, tilt, pivot, and height adjustment.
- Featuring ASUS-exclusive GamePlus function hotkey for perfect gaming environment and experience.
- DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports ensure extensive connectivity and compatibility with multimedia devices or game consoles.
- Built-in 2W stereo speakers further add to an immersive home entertainment experience.
The Asus VG248QE features a 1080 FHD display that runs at 144hz.
The display is actually pretty great; given that it was one of the first gaming monitors to feature a true 100+ refresh rate. The response time is as good as most other high-end gaming monitors, standing true at 1ms.
The TN panel isn’t as good as half the TN panels on the market today, but then again, it isn’t as bad as the other half.
For the most part, the VG248QE is a solid performer. Its color accuracy wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t ideal either. As shown in the chromaticity chart below, the 1920 x 1080 TN panel produced oversaturated greens,
but blues and reds were much closer to their CIE (International Commission On Illumination) coordinates.
Greens did appear to be a bit heavy in my test photos but not heavy enough to cause tinting.
Many screens become unstable right around 72 Hz, though there are a few vendors online selling monitors they’ve tweaked up to higher frequencies. Asus uses its own parts to create a stable platform that can handle the higher rates.
The second element is a six-bit TN panel manufactured by AU Optronics.
That requires its own bit of explanation. As is the case with most TN monitors, the VG248QE has relatively narrow viewing angles.
There was some color shifting at around 50-degrees from center from the side and the view from the bottom was dark. This becomes more of an issue when the panel is rotated and the bottom angle becomes the left side angle.
TN is generally faster at screen draws than IPS because the majority of panels have a six-bit native color depth. This means they are only capable of rendering 262,144 actual colors instead of the 16,777,216 possible from an eight-bit panel.
Since the color information coming from the monitor’s processor requires far less bandwidth, the entire signal chain gets a boost in speed.
The Asus VG248QE is a capable 24-inch gaming monitor that uses 144Hz refresh technology and a speedy 1-ms pixel response to deliver smooth game play.
Its viewing angle performance comes up short and it lacks the gear needed for 3D gaming, but if smooth motion handling is a must, this monitor delivers.
That said, our current Editors’ Choice for mid-sized gaming monitors, the BenQ XL2420TX, also offers very good motion performance and comes with a multitude of I/O ports and a 3D Vision 2 kit, but it’ll cost you a couple of hundred dollars more.
